Two-Notes Torpedo Live Professional Digital Loadbox

The Torpedo Live is one of the best pieces of gear I ever bought! It allows you to connect your amp's speaker-out to its input and to drive your computer's audio interface from the Torpedo (and optionally also drive your speaker cabinet via the Thru jack) . This allow's you to record your amp's full signal path - silently - and monitor your guitar at headphone levels.

But it's so much more than that! It simulates any speaker cabinet / microphone combination that you can imagine, allowing you to record said configuration. The software application that allows you to control the Torpedo Live is outstanding.

Ok, so how's the tone? Amazing! I Prefer the tone I get from the Torpedo Live to the tone I get through my H&K's speaker cabinet! It's actually not even close... most likely because my studio room can't come close to the room simulations provided by the Torpedo... not to mention the only mics I own are the Shure SM-57 and SM-58. These are fine mics, but the Torpedo provides me with simulations of those and many more pricier mics.

Once again, this device isn't cheap, but when you consider that it essentially emulates an infinite number of cabinets and a large number of microphones - and that it allows you to position the mic just about anywhere in the room of your choice - it starts to become quite reasonable.

This is one of the few pieces of gear I own that I love even more now than when I first bought it. It is truly one of the most useful and flexible devices any home studio can have.

*** NOTE ***

In another review, I mention how a Bugera Attenuator fried my amp. This is NOT an attenuator. It's a proper load-box. I have had my amp connected to this device for 2 years now - no issues whatsoever.

If you're thinking about purchasing one, but aren't sure... try Two-Notes' Wall Of Sound (WOS) software (it's free). It allows you to simulate the full signal path (preamp->Pwr Amp->Cabinet->Mic->Room) or any subset therein, on your input signal thru software (whether DI or not). Once you've used WOS, I suspect you'll end up buying the Torpedo Live in relatively short-order.

This one's a no-brainer. No matter what amp you own, it works like a champ. It's a studio WORKHORSE - buy it!
